Record writing is essential for documenting and
supporting diagnoses; meeting time frames;
managing risk; meeting funding and audit mandates;
and reflecting quality, coordinated care and client
success.
Participants will learn:
• To write shorter, more focused session notes that work for the practitioner, the client, the agency, the insurer and the funder.
• To apply HIPAA and other confidentiality rules, including those related to foster care.
• To balance professional ethics and regulations.
• How the HIPAA, NY State Mental Hygiene Law and the Social Work Code of Ethics can work in concert.
• Practical guidelines for writing professional notes that reflect the success of treatment.
• Clarification of legal principles such as "need to Know" and "minimum necessary."
